This is a tribute to my amazing Dad, James. I am sure that all of you will agree that a part of him lives on in all of us. (The cheeky part!)

James passed away in hospital on the 22nd of January 2006 at the age of 52, after a 5 year battle with Leukaemia. It seemed as though he waited for me, my sister and mum to be with him before he finally let go. Ill never forget that moment, but am so grateful that we were all there for him.

James was born on the 15 of July 1953 in Glasgow, Scotland. He was the oldest of 5 children. He was very proud of his scottish heritage and was a true scotsman! He loved motorsport and took part in many races and rallies throughout his life. He lived for cars!

James, and his partner Julie had two children, Kirsty and Fiona who they did a great job of bringing up.

So, James was my Dad. I can't say how much he meant to me but I can say that you really don't appreciate a person enough until they are no longer here. I'm sure my Dad knew how much I loved him, but I wish I'd told him more often. He was the greatest Dad ever. He was always there to advise, not only me and my sister, but everyone who needed guiding through something. He was a big man with a big personality and I was proud to call him my Dad. There were some things that he wasnt the best at, like singing! Which he used to do all the time when he was driving, I think just to embarass me sometimes. But he was amazing at a lot of things, and a great passion of his was racing. His third baby was an Alfa Romeo which he built and went on to race. He was also very good at whistling! HAHA! You know the one I mean... when he was really getting into the music and would do a minute long whistle! I always knew he was happy when I heard that!
I don't know what to say other than I am setting this page up as a tribute to the best man I have ever, and will ever, know. I love you Dad.

Please feel free to leave any memories or stories and add any pictures you have of my dad. Thankyou

one of the best

A great inspiration to me when i was growing up, i had known james from the age of around 8 years old and continued our friendship all the way. a very kind man and a true friend. It did not matter who was with him or what he was doing, whenever i went around the house there was always time for a herbal tea !!. He had a great family Julie and the girls and loved them dearly.

always missed never forgotten !!!!

James was a good friend to both my dad, mum and my sisters and me.

I feel lucky to have known him, advised and inspired by him, and made to laugh to the point of tears by his great and fiery character.

His close friendship with my parents has left them with many great memories which will never be forgotten.

Forever young

I shall not forget James or all of the time we spent together. Although he was always busy with something or other he always found time to spend with me when I was in Birmingham or when he was down here in Dorset. He was a great companion and always fun to be with. He is sadly missed but I still have the fond memories.

Best wishes and respect to Julie, Kirsty and Fiona.

There is always a star watching down on you

Hi Girls,
Well what can i say your farther was just such an incredible man. Always smileling, laughing and joking covered in engine oil when fixing his cars. And having a few wild parties. But he will be missed very much by a lot of people. Just remember that there is always a star looking down on you watching you both in the ways of the world.
Lots of Love the Payne Family.

Hi Kirsty, My husband Mal and I and our son Josh stayed with you when your mum was pregnant with your sister and me with my daughter. We were strangers to Julie and James but they opened their home and made us feel welcome. Have a couple of cute pics of you and Josh...Your words are terrific, I'm sure your Dad would be smiling down on you and know that you loved him.
